Angry Birds Seasons is the second game in the Angry Birds series, which contains episodes based around holidays and events. It is available on all major platforms.
History
Angry Birds Seasons was initially released as Angry Birds Halloween on October 20, 2010. The name was changed on December 1st 2010 to Angry Birds Seasons with the Christmas episode Season's Greedings. Updates have continued since, and are listed below.
On August 23, 2011, The Mighty Eagle was released for the game on iOS devices.
Seasons was formerly updated on a semi-monthly basis, each update adding a themed episode stylized by an upcoming holiday and usually two Golden Eggs. (The exceptions: Easter Eggs has 11 Golden Eggs (10 in PC and Mac), Summer Pignic has 3, Wreck the Halls has 3, Winter Wonderham has 3 (7 in the Intel golden egg on android devices, that got removed on December 1st 2016), Arctic Eggspedition has 4, South Hamerica has 3, Ham Dunk has 3, Tropigal Paradise also has 3 and Pig Days doesn't have any) Angry Birds Seasons is split into seven Seasons: 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, and 2016.
Since version 3.2.0, Power-ups were added in gameplay.
It was unlisted from the App Store and Google Play since 2019, now also available in Zimbabwe country
Gameplay
To play the game, the player needs to press the Episodes button, that will show the episodes. The player starts with all episodes from On Finn Ice of to Ragnahog unlocked. Each episode has its set of levels, which each time unlocked, has only 1 level available, except for Christmas episodes, which are Advent Calendars with all levels unlocked. When the player clicks the level button, the game will open the level. In the level, the player starts with a pre-determined set of birds, and a determined structure with pigs.
In order to beat the level, the player has to defeat all pigs. In order to defeat pigs, the player needs to hit them with birds, which can do by using the Slingshot. The player can sling a bird by pressing the slingshot and holding while dragging the rubber. The longer the rubber is dragged, the longer the bird will fly. The rubber can be dragged to all sides, except in the middle. Leaving the bird in the middle will cancel the launch.
After a bird is launched, it will fly until its momentum ends. While the bird is in the air, he can activate his ability. The birds are the following:
Birds
Birds are the protagonists of the game, they are trying to get their eggs back.
Red: Shouts a battle cry when tapped.
- Cannot destroy materials well.
- The Blues The Blues: They split when tapped, having more birds to destroy objects.
- Destroys Glass exceptionally well, but can't destroy other materials.
- Chuck Chuck: Speeds up when tapped, gaining more momentum and strength.
- Destroys wood exceptionally well, but can't destroy other materials well.
- Matilda Matilda: Lays an explosive egg when tapped, making her fly away up and the egg explodes on impact.
- Can destroy materials well, but not stone. The egg destroys a lot of materials on range.
Bomb: Explodes instantly when tapped or after some time he hits something.
- Can destroy stone and other materials really well. His explosion destroys a lot of objects on range.
- Hal Hal: Spins when launched and goes to the opposite direction when tapped.
- He can destroy wood really well, when he activates his ability he can destroy more.
- Terence Terence: Has no ability.
- However, he can destroy materials really well.
Bubbles: Inflates when tapped or after some time and flys away after some time.
- He can destroy wood really well, and when he activates he destroys any material on range.
- Stella Stella: Covers herself and things in range when tapped, lifting them up and the bubbles then pop, falling.
- Cannot destroy materials well, but the falling distance helps a bit on destroy materials.
- Tony Tony: Goes all the way down when tapped, gaining momentum and strength.
- Has the same strength as his cousin Terence
- Mighty Eagle Mighty Eagle: You first launch a can of sardines and when it hits the ground, the Mighty Eagle will come down, destroying everything in its path and causing an earthquake, popping all pigs he missed and shoots back up into the sky, while also destroying anything else in his path. He must be purchased for 99 cents (99¢) to be used, and has unlimited usage.
- Mighty Dragon Mighty Dragon: You first launch a Red Koi Fish. And then Mighty Dragon will come fly and make loops, destroying his on his way, defeating all pigs. Only appears in Year Of The Dragon and can be used for free.
- Mighty Basketball Mighty Basketball: You first launch a Spalding Bag, and the ball will bounce the same way as Mighty Eagle. Costs $1.99 in the Ham Dunk Pass, and comes with Mighty Eagle.
If the bird hits a a block, he will stop flying immediately, will be injured and won't activate its ability. After a pig is hit, he will be popped, or if he is strong he will be injured. Birds give 10000 if not used, after completing the level. Each pig has three stages of injury, but birds defeat them instanly according to strength. The pigs are the following:
Pigs
The pigs are the enemies of the birds, they hunt down the eggs in order to cook it to King Pig.
- Small Pig Small Pig: The weakest of all pigs, being defeated instantly by any bird or material.
- Medium Pig Medium Pig: Stronger than small pigs, but can also be defeated easily by any bird.
- Large Pig Large Pig: Stronger than medium pigs, cannot be defeated by some birds instantly.
- Corporal Pig Corporal Pig: Stronger than large pigs because of his helmet, cannot be defeated by most of the birds in a hit, but stronger birds will.
- Foreman Pig Foreman Pig: Stronger than Corporal Pig, he cannot be defeated by birds in a hit, but stronger birds will defeat him that way.
- King Pig King Pig: Stronger than any pig, he cannot be defeated by any birds in a hit, except for explosions and Terence.
- El Porkador El Porkador: He is the strongest pig, however, can be defeated easily by a strong bird.
After all the pigs are defeated, the player will win the level. Otherwise, they will fail. These are the materials appear in the levels:
- Glass: Can be destroyed easily by any bird, some will only destroy one, but stronger ones will destroy more on momentum.
- Wood: Can't be destroyed easily, some birds might destroy only a block, but stronger ones will destroy more.

Release
Angry Birds Seasons was released as a paid app exclusively for iOS in October 2010 as Angry Birds Halloween. In December 2010, the game would be updated as Angry Birds Seasons due to the adding of another episode, Season's Greedings, though the Halloween levels were kept in an episode called Trick or Treat. Angry Birds Seasons would also receive a free release on Android and Symbian devices, though with ads included in it. The game would continue receiving updates with new episodes that celebrated the seasons and festivities of the years, until 2016 with the addition of Ragnahog, an episode made to celebrate Christmas, set in a Nordic theme.
Music
- Main article: Angry Birds Seasons (Original Game Soundtrack)
In 2018, all music tracks from Angry Birds Seasons would be released in the form of Angry Birds Seasons (Original Game Soundtrack).
Angry Birds Seasons is the first Angry Birds game to have songs in its soundtrack. There are a total of four songs released for the game: "Peace Song 2011", "Peace Song 2012: Fly Me Home Tonight", "Peace Song 2013: Ode to Snow", and "Peace Song 2014: Santamental Me".

Reception
Both Angry Birds Seasons and Angry Birds Halloween received generally positive reviews both by critics and fan alike. In Metacritic, it holds an user score of 6.9 for the iOS version based on twenty-two ratings;[1] a 4.3 score for the HD version of the game released on the same platform based on nineteen ratings;[2] and a score of 7.8 based on twenty-two ratings for the PC version.[3]
Reviewing the Halloween version of the game, one reviewer at Slide to Play said that the game was hard, and that they "wondered why the game was not an in-app purchase for the original game". When the game was updated to Angry Birds Seasons in December, he said that he liked the idea of the Season's Greetings levels being like an advent calendar, with one kevel being added per day. He concluded saying that the game was a "Must Have" and that people who liked the original Angry Birds will be "pleased with Angry Birds Seasons".[4] Similarly, Chris Buffa from Modojo rated the game 5/5 and wrote that "Angry Birds Seasons is both addictive and challenging, and you'd be crazy not to pony up the cash and download it ASAP".[5]
Errors
- When a bird is launched, sometimes it will make random face expressions (such as holding their beak open or blinking) for an unknown reason.
- Before the Ham'o'ween update, Launching another bird in the air while Red, Chuck or Hal is launched, their sprite will freeze and not look collapsed. This bug has been fixed.
- Before the Ham'o'ween update, only one of The Blues's face was collapsed, but this bug has been fixed.
- Currently, corpses will no longer appear and remain the expression when flung. This happens because of the Bird Wear update since the birds' launched or using ability sprites would not fit into the Bird Wear, for example, Hal's boomerang sprite.
Trivia
- Halloween, Christmas and Valentine's Day are the only three holidays to be represented in Seasons more than once. The summer holiday has appeared more than once, but it is in completely different settings from a Picnic to Atlantis, to a continent, a volcano island and then a Camp, while Spring events also differ (Go Green, Get Lucky, Easter Eggs, Cherry Blossom, Abra-ca-Bacon and finally Marie Hamtoinette)
- Season 2013 is the shortest season that has 2 episodes, Abra-Ca-Bacon and Arctic Eggspedition
- Since Haunted Hogs , every "Level Failed" screen has a different screen. The only exceptions are South Hamerica (as that has Ham Dunk's for some reason) and Fairy Hogmother (as that has Marie Hamtoinette's for some reason). Pig Days' fail screen shares the same one as the level's backgorund the level has.
- The Trick or Treat cutscenes got removed in the Piglantis update (June 14th 2012)
- This is the only game so far to not have the new updated Angry Birds sprites but in the Arctic Eggspedition update Bomb's white spot doesn't appear. (as seen in Rio and Chrome.)
- This is also the only game to keep the Bird's and Pig's old design instead of their Angry Birds Chrome design.
- South Hamerica added Pig Days. It has ended on June 27, 2016, with world milk day. It was replaced with The Pig Challenge.
- Ham Dunk was originally released in Season 2014 but 15 new levels were released in 2015, making it also part of Season 2015. (It went back to Season 2014 when all of the three Ham Dunk episodes events)
- Tropigal Paradise changed the font into a thick font, It also changed the loading style,
- The Ham Dunk update was the last update to have an icon featireing the classic designs. Starting with On Finn Ice they would use toons. Though Marie Hamtoinette, Summer Camp and the two Piggywood Studios updates would have the movie designs on the app icons.
- The Arctic Eggspedition update was the last one to feature the characters in their classic style on the loading screens. Starting with South Hamerica they would have their toons desings on loading screens. But Marie Hamtoinette, Summer Camp and the Piggywood Studios updates would have movie designs.
- The Invasion of the Egg Snatchers update added "Bird Wear", making this the second game where you can change a bird's costume at will, the first being Angry Birds Stella.
- The telebird, which uses (and is Red) Red's sprite, makes Bomb's noises.
- Pig Days is now located at Season 2016, despite it being released in 2014 along with South Hamerica.
- Most episodes theme songs are similar to the main Angry Birds theme song.
