Red J. Bird[3] (born in August[4]) is the main protagonist of the Angry Birds series. He is a desert cardinal native to Bird Island with a short-tempered and rude personality.
Born an orphan on Bird Island, Red was an anti-social person with rarely any contact with anybody else. After Leonard's attacks on the island however, Red was accepted by the Bird Island society and had many new friends. He currently lives on Piggy Island with some of his closest friends and takes care of the eggs.

Red is a desert cardinal[2] with red feathers that cover most of his body, hence his name. On his head, he has two small red feathers with a circular end, and on his tail, there are two short black feathers with square ends. His belly is peach-colored, and he has small, crimson spots ordered in a horizontal line across his face. He has an anthropomorphic, pill-shaped body with his head directly connected to his torso without a neck. His crest and tail feathers are also much longer and detailed than before. In addition, his irises were tinted brown.
In Angry Birds Dream Blast, Red was re-designed again to resemble a hatchling. In this game, he is much shorter, with a round body and small limbs. Angry Birds Journey uses a similar design for its trailers and promotional artwork, although it was somehow more simplified. In the levels of said game, he uses his design from Angry Birds Toons, though modified to have him with a small beak, large eyes, and brown irises.
Personality
Red is a short-tempered person. The angriest of all the birds, he is not above using violence when someone annoys him. He is someone who takes his duties very seriously, not willing at all to leave them aside. However, he also likes to discover new things when he is in a day off.

During his earliest years, Red was an antisocial person who was rejected by the rest of people.[5] With an unstable anger (despite him trying to state otherwise), he had always hated being disrespected and made fun of, as he took jokes very seriously. This would result in him getting enraged and/or sad. As he grew up, he also became someone who could get frustrated by anything, acting rude in front of other people not matter how friendly they were towards him. However, after he stopped Leonard from cooking the eggs from Bird Island, Red became much more outgoing and was approved by the rest of the birds, which allowed him to control his anger issues much more than before.[1] Nevertheless, even after these incidents, it was shown that Red could still get angry at anything, sometimes cursing himself for his actions,[6] and showing an open hatred for ridiculous holidays.[7] He himself has admitted that he still suffered from anger issues from time to time. However, he is not ungrateful and appreciates the effort others make for him.[8]
Ever since the first time he met them, Red has had a mutual dislike for the pigs, being skeptical about them during their stay on Bird Island.[1] After he and his friends moved to Piggy Island, his hatred for them was just aggravated. As a result of all the times they tried to steal the eggs, Red has become even more determined to keep the latters safe, which has bordered him on schizophrenia when he is not near them; a notable example of this was shown when, while he was having a forced vacation.
While serious and hostile, Red likes being with other people, and appreciates their company. He is afraid of losing his friends and being ignored by others, just like in his childhood and adolescence, though he keeps this fact a secret to everyone. It has been confirmed that Red never managed to get rid of this trauma; a notable example of this was when Chuck asked him if he feared something. While Red said that he was not scared of anything, he had some flashbacks of him being left alone by others.[3] Another example was when his friends were preparing him a surprise party for his birthday. Unaware of this, Red thought that his friends had died during an incident, or that they had abandoned him.

Angry Birds Action!
In Angry Birds Action!, Red appears as the first and default character the player is given. In gameplay, he can run towards a direction by pointing him at a target and shooting. Red would then hit and bounce off of targets until he ran out of speed. He can only do this three times, and he will disappear afterwards.
Angry Birds Football
In Angry Birds Football, Red appeared as the only playable character, as a member of the team Mighty Feathers. For the first time in an Angry Birds game, Red used his design from The Angry Birds Movie, in promotion of the film.
In gameplay, the player could upgrade Red' skills, in different categories that ranged from pace, power, technique, and defense that helped the birds' performances. These skills could be raised by training the birds or using in-game currency to upgrade them instantly. To win, the player had to pass the ball around in a special arrangement to the other birds in order to make the goal.
Angry Birds Evolution
In Angry Birds Evolution, Red is an unlockable red bird that is unlocked after beating the Yellow Desert or some events. His statistics are as follows:

Red also appears as Classic Red. In this state, he has a slightly modified design from Angry Birds Toons.
Angry Birds Match
In Angry Birds Match, Red appears as a supporting character that can be summoned in the levels. In the test version of the game. he also teaches the player how to play the game. In gameplay, Red can be summoned in any level by matching four items of the same color. When the player taps onto him and then slides the finger to any side, he will run towards that side, cleaning items in his way, popping pigs, and damaging boxes. However, if he is touched by other bird, or is not used by the player when they complete the level, he will split into two and will run either horizontally or vertically. This means that, for example, vertically, one Red will be running towards the top part of the screen, while the other one will run to the bottom part.
Angry Birds Dream Blast
In Angry Birds Dream Blast, Red appears as a supporting character. This is also the first time in the Angry Birds series where he uses a new design that does not come from past games or media; instead, he now looks like a hatchling. He also appears as a profile picture that the player can unlock and choose.
In gameplay, Red can be summoned by popping four or more bubbles of the same color at the same time. The more bubbles are popped, the larger Red will be. When he is tapped or touched by other bird, he will make a horizontal line that will pop every bubble in its way. He will then disappear. Combining two Reds will summon one Chuck.
Angry Birds: Isle of Pigs
In both versions of Angry Birds: Isle of Pigs, Red is one of the four playable characters, and the first one used by the player. He is used for the first time in the first level of Sandy Beach. He can also be added as an optional character in the Level Builder mode. In this game, he has his sound effects from Angry Birds 2, which are taken from some episodes of Angry Birds Toons. When launched, Red will have no ability, which is why he is mainly used to push buildings.
Angry Birds POP Blast
In Angry Birds POP Blast, Red is a playable character that is unlocked in the first level. He also appears as Super Red in the Space Race.
In gameplay, Red can be used in any level as long as the player chooses to him. When his bar is full, he will active his ability, which is an explosive fireball that will pop some bubbles in a range.
Angry Birds Tennis
In Angry Birds Tennis, Red is a playable character unlocked by default. He can be played in any level the player wants, he can also be chosen to be part of the player's team. He uses his boost when he has energy to do it.
Angry Birds Legends
In Angry Birds Legends, Dragon Slayer Red is the second playable character you unlock after Uriel. He can be played in any level the player wants. He is unlocked after beating the first enemy.
Angry Birds Reloaded
In Angry Birds Reloaded, Red reappears as a playable character first used in the first level of Hot Pursuit. He has the same gameplay features as in the earliest games. However, he will do nothing if the screen is tapped when he is launched.
Angry Birds Journey
In Angry Birds Journey, Red is a playable character that, unlike in past games, is unlocked as the fifth and last bird. When he collides anywhere, he will target to five different items and then destroy them in a ruckus. When the Anger Meter ability is used, the ruckus will be bigger.
Angry Birds: Bird Island
In Angry Birds: Bird Island, Red is the tour guide of the island when the player logs on. He is one of the 3 free character bundles along with Chuck and Stella for all players.

The Angry Birds Movie
Red appears as the main character in The Angry Birds Movie. He had a different design from the games and media in this movie which was later used in some future games and media. He is voiced by Jason Sudeikis. He was forgotten in the beginning but he was liked by other birds in the end for saving the eggs from Leonard, Ross and the other pigs.

Red once again appears as the main character in The Angry Birds Movie 2. He is still voiced by Jason Sudeikis. After saving the eggs, the birds and pigs had a prank war till a new enemy comes and the birds must team up to stop Zeta. After stopping Zeta, Red started to be with Silver more.
Angry Birds Bubble Trouble
Red appears as a main character in Angry Birds Bubble Trouble. He has a similar design to his Dream Blast design.
Angry Birds Summer Madness
Red appears as a main character in Angry Birds Summer Madness. He has a new design mixing his Movie and Dream Blast design. He talks in this series.

Chuck
Red's best friend is Chuck. The two first met when they assisted Matilda's anger management classes. While Red was initially annoyed by the yellow bird's quick-paced personality, which often made him feel uncomfortable, they quickly became friends.[1] Though Red can still be annoyed by Chuck's arrogant personality, he acts as a parental figure towards him[2] and respects and trusts him.
Bomb
Other of Red's friends is Bomb. The two first met when they were forced to assist Matilda's anger management classes. While they did not get along very well at first, they quickly became friends as they investigated about Leonard and the pigs' hostage on Bird Island.[1] Red acts as a parental figure towards Bomb[2] and respects and trusts him, though he can be annoyed by his stupidity.
Jay, Jake and Jim
Red is good friends with Jay, Jake and Jim. Before the Blues were born, Red saved the egg containing them from the claws of Leonard and his minions.[1] Despite the brothers' irresponsibility and disobedience, Red still tolerates them and acts as a parental figure towards them.[2] Also, whenever the triplets save the eggs from the pigs, Red likes spending a while playing with them as a reward.[9]

Terence is a close friend of Red. They first met when they were forced by law to attend Matilda's anger management classes, though they did not get along at first, as Red feared Terence, even calling him "Terrifying" the first time he saw him. However, after Leonard stole the eggs from Bird Island, Terence and the other birds cooperated with Red to get them back.[1] Since then, Terence and Red started to have a better relationship with each other, though they do not interact very often with each other.
Silver

Silver is another of Red's friends. She was introduced to him by Chuck, though they had a rather tense relationship, as he was not too fond of her "know-it-all" behavior. As time passed however, they started to get along.[3] Currently, they are good friends, and have a mutual respect towards each other.

Perhaps Red's first enemy was Leonard. The two first met when Leonard and the other pigs went to Bird Island. Despite the pigs acting friendly towards the birds, Red was skeptical about Leonard, insulting him many times and even making paintings about him dying in multiple ways. It soon after turned out that Red was right about Leonard when he and the other pigs stole the eggs from Bird Island and bombed Bird Village. One day later, Red and the other birds managed to go to Piggy Island, the pigs' home, and destroy Pig City and rescue the eggs, which only aggravated Leonard's hatred for the red bird.[1] Despite this, the two were forced to cooperate to stop Zeta from conquering the earth.[3] However, in the secret meeting, they argue with each other about who should be the assistant.
