The first name that was known was "Lazer Bird" from the file name of images added to the Angry Birds Google+ page on February 17, 2012. The "Ice Cube Bird" was mentioned in passing by a Rovio employee at SXSW but could be merely colloquial. The true bird names were later revealed via AngryBirdsNest and The Daily.[1] Every bird (except the Space Eagles) resemble a different Marvel or DC Comics character.
Red Bird
Red Bird (aka Super Red Bird) is the classic Red Bird. When pulled through the wormhole into the new Space environment, he found himself outfitted with the Über Mask. The mask allows Red to see a view called "sling scope," showing him the best flight path to do the most damage. His mask resembles Wolverine. Also, he has the ability to scan for unknown objects and target pigs.

Blue Birds
Blue Birds (aka Lightning Birds or The Blues) are the classic Blue Birds. They are daring and inquisitive and often get themselves into trouble and cause mischief, causing the Flock to have to intervene. They have the power to break ice (and triplicate as in the classic Angry Birds game). They are commonly placed after an Ice Bird. Their helmets resemble The Flash.

Bomb
Bomb (aka Powerbomb Bird or Firebomb Bird) is the classic Black Bird. Bomb has a short fuse and loses his temper easily. He is a loner, not wanting to stress himself with the Flock's problems. His power to incinerate anything within a radius of his body is called "heat shock wave." His coat, skin colors and powers resemble Firestorm.

Terence
Terence (a.k.a. Monster Bird, or the The Incredible Terence is the original Big Brother Bird, but now green in color. Terence is capable of immense destruction due to his size and girth. His new skin color and large size resembles the Hulk.

Lazer Bird
Lazer Bird (a.k.a. Maching Bird) is the classic Yellow Bird. Lazer Bird is a practical joker and uses his jokes to liven up the Flock. He is described as enthusiastic and restless. Lazer Bird is also Red's best friend and confidant. His goggles resemble Cyclops .
Lazer Bird's sound effect is: Zzzt!
In the game, Lazer bird's abilities are similar to Yellow Bird, with a slightly different control. Instead of the player tapping the screen to increase speed, tapping now chooses a directional target. Lazer will turn at a sharp angle and accelerate toward the target tap, ignoring gravity until hitting something.
NOTE: The Lazer Bird's cape is not seen in the actual game. He does have his cape in the cutscenes, so it might be a flub by Rovio.

Ice Bird
Ice Bird (a.k.a. Ice Bomb Bird or Ice Cube Bird) is an extraterrestrial companion to the Flock once they arrive in Space. He convinces the Flock to help him in his quest to recover the Eggsteroid. He is intent on saving his home planet from the Space Pigs, but Red is convinced he can help get them home. His power is to freeze enemies solid in an icy explosion. His powers resemble Iceman.
In the game, Ice Bird freezes an area on impact. Ice Bird explodes a couple of seconds after impact with any piece of structure, and covers the surrounding blocks and piggies with ice making the them brittle and easier to break. If the screen is not tapped, Ice Bird will hesitate for a few seconds, still turning surfaces it touches into ice; making the Ice Bird a technical variation of Bomb. The Ice Bird's explosion doesn't damage any regular blocks or piggies, but it will set off any explosive objects in range.

Orange Bird
Orange Bird is the classic Orange Bird. He is a new bird coming soon in Angry Birds Space. It seems as though it will have the same ability to inflate like the classic Orange Bird. His coat resembles Firestorm, just like Bomb.

Space Eagles
Little is known about the history or origins of Space Eagles. They first appeared in Angry Birds Space and fill a similar, but different role than the Mighty Eagle. With Space Eagles, they can be called using Sardine cans, just as the Mighty Eagle. A space warp will appear and the Space Eagle will do some damage to the level. The player then continues to play the level as normal with the remaining birds. An Eagle Highscore appears as well. After Angry Birds, Angry Birds Seasons, and Angry Birds Rio, you’re an expert pig-popper. You know that Mighty Eagle has your back whenever you need to get through a tricky level. So you’re looking for a new challenge.
In Angry Birds Space, you get to summon a fearsome space eagle. They’re still here to help you out on a tough level, but require a little bit more skill -- using a space eagle doesn’t automatically wipe out all the pigs. Instead, you have to pick the perfect spot to fling the can of sardines, and the space eagle will appear in a wormhole of destruction that pops all the pigs around it.
But don’t worry, space eagles travel in flocks -- so if your first try doesn’t do the job, bring on another space eagle! Unlike the Mighty Eagle, there are no time restrictions on use, and you can use several per level. You can earn them through gameplay achievements, or they’re available as an in-app purchase on iOS and Android.

Egg
An egg is shown in several images for Angry Birds Space, appearing with the Flock. It has the appearance of a normal, white egg, but with an antenna. This appears to be a sentient egg, as with the Boy and Girl Eggs and the Umbrella egg from the Angry Birds Seasons: Cherry Blossom episode. It appears in level 3-10.
This Egg has appeared in the cutscenes in Fry Me to the Moon. It might hatch in future chapters.
Space Pigs
The Space Pigs appear to look like Earth's Bad Piggies. How they came to be in Space or got their updated equipment is unknown at this time. It is known that the Space King used his UFO's grabbing claw to steal eggs which caused the Flock to follow the claw through the wormhole and end up trapped in the world of Space.
- Small, Medium,and Large Pigs - Footsoldiers of the Space King
- Helmet Pig (A.K.A. Major Pig) - Wears a metal helmet and used to be seen guarding the Pig Fortress on Earth
- Mustache Pig - The right hand pig of the Space King. He's the oldest of the Pigs. His first and latest appearance as a boss is on the episode Fry Me To The Moon, and level 3-10 as he floats along with the Space Egg he captured right next to him.
- Space King - The King Pig, now in Space. Space King has a UFO with grabber claws and appears to be responsible for the Flock getting pulled through the wormhole into Space. It was the Space King's idea, while still the King Pig to steal eggs from the Birds in the first place. As Space King, he has some new goals, including stealing the Eggsteroid and continually feeding the Fat Pig. He first appears as a boss battle in level 1-30 in a UFO Tank and then in Cold Cuts level 2-30 in a UFO Spaceship.
- Fat Pig (A.K.A. Mega Pork) - Fat Pig combs the Universe looking for cosmic food to continually increase his size. He is massive with spots on him similar to the Big Brother Bird. The description of the Fat Pig according to The Daily is: "As ravenous as he is disgusting". The Fat Pig makes his first level appearance in level 2-20, and has not appeared as an enemy. He also appears on the episode "Cold Cuts" title screen. His first appearance in game is in level 4-10 (Utopia) as a minor boss. He is smaller than he is in 2-20.
